Summary

One Last Delivery is a 4-player cooperative multiplayer delivery spooky game developed by BackToBits Studio.

Players take on the role of delivery couriers for “Glover Deliveries” navigating a stylized cartoon city. By day, players coordinate routes using analog paper maps, dodge traffic violations, and deliver packages to earn cash and fuel. When night falls, the metropolis is consumed by thick fog, vehicle headlights drain battery reserves, and lethal nocturnal monsters begin hunting the delivery van.

Responsibilities

  • Arcade Vehicle Kinematics: Developed custom raycast-wheel suspension physics, dynamic tire lateral slip friction curves for responsive handbrake drifts, and weight transfer mechanics for comedic yet skill-testing van handling.
  • Multithreaded traffic system: Crafted a complex traffic system capable of handling more than 2000 simultaneous cars while managing traffic light, lane switching and dynamic objects without affecting performance.
  • Atmospheric Day/Night Cycle: Programmed the state transition system controlling street lighting, ambient fog shaders, dynamic audio stems, and escalating nocturnal creature aggression.
  • Steam Lobby: Built the whole lobby management system using Steamworks as the transport between players computers.

Current Status & Reception

  • Festival Exhibition: Officially selected and showcased at the Guerrilla Game Festival, drawing consistent crowds of players competing in live co-op sessions.
  • Player Reception: Highly celebrated by festival attendees for its frantic verbal communication dynamics, comedic driving mishaps, and sudden tense horror transitions as night falls.
