About Me

Profile Image

Hi, I'm Álvaro Chuan Díaz-Maroto, a videogame developer student at UJI university. Thanks for visiting my portfolio website.

During these years of university I'm constantly learning new skills and improving my knowledge in the videogame development field. I'm currently working on a videogame project with a group of friends, and I'm also working on my own projects. I'm mainly interested in coding and 3D modelling. I will be uploading my projects to this website and once I graduate I will upload my resume here too.

Projects

Synthwave Maniac

2D rythm game where the player has to fight against enemies and obstacles to the beat of the music. Take fast decisions and be precise to survive until the end of the song / level and get the hightest score.

Prop Trip (Jam version released but still in development)

Infinite fist person movement shooter where the player has to survive as long as possible while shooting enemies and dodging their bullets. This game was made by the teams Back to Bits (a team that I am part of) and Punic Goose for the UJI Game Jam 2024 in 48h. Our main goal was to explore new mechanics, their implementation challenges and dig further into the use of toon shaders and post processing effects. The Jam version is kind of buggy and unpolished but we are still working on it and we will release a more polished version soon.

Step By Step

Graphic adventure game where the player has to follow the Watermill's route while playing minigames to accomplish the last wish of his grandmother, to spread her ashes in the waterfall of Salt. This game was made by the team Hike Squad where I was in charge of the coding and implementation of the whole game. It was made for the Triple assignature project of the UJI university in 2023 and for the townhall of Ares del Maestrat, our final customer. The main goal of the game was to promote the Watermill's rout of Ares del Maestrat and show it's story while keeping the players entertained, beacuse of that, we had to travel to Ares del Maestrar, gather and research information and exchange information with the townhall to make the game as accurate as possible.

Growing Fear

Tiny farming game with an spooky look made by Back To Bits (a team which I am part of) for the UJI Game Jam 2023 Spooky edition in 48h. The player has to grow spooky vegetables to gain money and expand his land to grow more vegetables and finllay give them to the cities of the planet and scare them until he has control over the entire planet.

Factory Wars

Plants vs Zombies inspired game where the player has to defend his factory from enemies while keeping the factory running and producing resources so he can sell them and get money to pay for upgrades and defenses to keep the factory safe until he reaches his money goal. This game was made in a group with 2 other people Mario Beltrán García and Edward Alejandro Mena Ordóñez as our final project for the Subject "Game Consoles" using DevKitPro and NightFox's Lib.

Watermelon Quest

Simple 2D platformer game where the player has to help a stranger to get back all his watermelons that are now distributed around the levels. This game was made using Unity and C# as a final project for the subject "Basic ICT" in my first year of university 2021.
